Energy Conservation

With energy costs rising and dwindiling resources, we need to find alternatives to energy consumption. Wasteful energy practices have a direct impact on our financial systems, environment, security and economy. By employing sound energy conservation methods we help reduce the cost of energy while saving our environment and making our communities better places to live. The Lebanon County Conservation District has endorsed the 25 x '25 Vision whereby the year 2025, America's farms, forests and ranches will provide 25 percent of the total energy consumed in the United States, while continuing to produce safe, abundant, and affordable food, feed and fiber. Energy Conservation at the Farm

Local producers can potentially qualify for energy item cost-share (audit, equipment, and or upgrades) through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) available through the local USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service field office at 717-272-3908 ext. 3.

While it is sometimes difficult to identify the best options to bring energy efficiency to your communities, there is now a resource available to help conservation districts assist producers in becoming more energy efficient. NACD and EnSave, Inc.—a company with a 16-year track record in helping farms and rural communities become more energy efficient—have established a new partnership. EnSave specializes in designing and implementing programs to help farms save energy and reduce pollution. Additionally, they specialize in farm energy audits.

Thanks to this new partnership, districts can team up with EnSave on a project to bring energy efficiency or pollution prevention to farmers, ranchers and growers in their areas. This is a great opportunity for your district to offer new services to your clients.
